Fi & Link Appreciation
Fi is not a sidekick, nor can she be compared to Navi, Midna, Tatl… not any of Link’s companions - simply because she is much, much more that that. The Blade of Evil’s Bane… without its indescribable spiritual powers, Link would never have been able to make use of his own courage. The two work in perfect harmony, valor and powerful efficacy, to conquer whatever may be upsetting the land, whether it be Gannnon (with three N’s), Demise, or anyone in between. So the legend goes. And although the Link that Fi first knew has long vanquished in the events of all other games, that first spark of a new time and a young hero lives within Fi’s memory as long as the Master Sword remains unscathed through time.
Fi and Link’s story together through the events of Skyward Sword are parallel to Link’s inner journey; one in which he finds himself becoming the first of many incarnations of the Hero of Legend. The two grow together in this new territory of good vs. bad in which they will find themselves for thousands of years to come - a hero and his sword.
